Reflexology dates back to ancient China, Japan and Egypt. Little was known in the west until the American surgeon Dr Edwin Fitzgerald, and a Physiotherapist by the name of Eunice Ingham developed the practice which we now call reflexology.
It is a gentle, non-invasive treatment suitable for all ages and often does bring relief from many medical conditions.
This treatment works very well alongside conventional medicine, but also works well on its own.
We have hundreds of reflex points on the soles of our feet which are related to all parts and functions of the body. Once your medical history has been discussed, and the feet and ankles are relaxed, treatment will begin which consists of thumb walking across the reflex points. It should be a pleasant experience after which you should feel completely relaxed.
The number of treatments will be dependent on your symptoms. I usually suggest 4-6 weekly sessions initially. If necessary, more treatments can be given at either; 2, 4 or 6 weeks. A further review will then take place.
